Ruler: Master of the Mask Episode 1

Pyunsoo Group, a secret organization of architects, grew as a powerful political group in shadow after Joseon dynasty began. 

The group uses special poisons to control the members. People will die with severe pain in their chest once they stop taking the poison.

10 years later, the King is expecting a baby. 

If the baby is born between 9 pm and 11 pm, the baby will be a great king otherwise the baby will die in young age. 

You are born a bit early, but let's just say it was in time. 

Dae Mok, the leader of Pyunsoo wants to get water with the prince as collateral. The king became furious and didn't want to accept his demand. Dae Mok proceeds plan B to poison the baby at the naming ceremony. 

The king, who did not know that the ink was poisoned, wrote the baby boy's name on his shoulder. The baby prince fell into suffering...

Woo Bo, a Sungkyunkwan officer, said Pyunsoo group is the only place to get the antidote.

The king visited Dae Mok and exchanged nation's water supply control with the antidote. 

It seems to be late but the boy is miraculously alive. Woo Bo says as he overcame the poison, now he has strong blood that is immune to any type of poison. 

The king decided to close down the prince's palace and put him under a mask. He also commanded to kill anyone who sees prince's face now on. 

"Overcome the evil plot of Pyunsoo group and survive. Develop your strength to fight them. take off this mask one day and become a true emperor." 

There was a rumor spread that the crown prince lost his face figure due to illness. It was known as an aftereffect of the poison, everyone believed it. 

14 years later, teenager prince wants to know why he must put on a mask in spite of strange rumors circulating. But the king doesn't tell him why but only talks about his illness that he doesn't know. 

He is trying to find the reason by himself reading record books in his garden, the only place where he can take off his mask as being alone. He figured out there was a person named Woo Bo who might know the truth. 

Meanwhile, Dae Mok's son and granddaughter (Hwa-gun) visited the Queen to discuss the marriage of crown prince. 

I am not interested in becoming a crown princess.

Touring the palace, Hwa-gun found the crown prince's secret garden and sneaked into it. 

The prince was stunned to see somebody without a mask.
